Friday Focus - Reopening Sage House
Sage House: There's No Place Like Home
For over a year now our wonderful home, Sage House, has had its doors closed to the public (with the exception of limited Daybreaks places) and it's been sad for customers and staff alike to see our hub without its usual hustle and bustle. But from the 17th of May, in line with government guidance, we will once again welcome people back!
Sally Tabbner, Dementia Support's CEO, has always said her favourite part of the job is sitting at her desk, looking out over the car park and seeing all the happy faces as they leave Sage House after enjoying themselves. She couldn't be more thrilled to have this part of her day back.
What Activities will be Running?
There will be a daily Chatter Table Monday to Friday in Daisy's Café with other activities spaced throughout the week. These include art sessions, bingo, exercise, quizzes, reading friends, and reminiscence sessions. For more information, you can visit our Activities page.
All sessions will cost £5 with the carer going free. You will have to book your spot in advance, but you can easily do this by ringing our reception on 01243 888 691 or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org
The benefits of therapeutic and cognitive activities, as well as socialising for people living with dementia is well documented. In fact, everyone can benefit from these activities, so we invite carers and families to take part too.
Amy, our Activities Coordinator is hard at work getting everything ready for Monday, and said: "I’m excited to start running activity sessions with people coming in, building on our virtual offering, and to get the atmosphere back at Sage House with our customers enjoying themselves."
What about Daisy's Café?
For the time being, with spaces being limited, you will have to book to come and enjoy a cup of tea or homecooked meal in the heart of Sage House. But, just like with Activities, you can do this by ringing our reception on 01243 888 691 and they will happily get that sorted for you.
