Connecting Generations

Through Dementia Education

As a charity, our vision is a society where dementia is wholly accepted and understood, and the first step towards this is education.

1 in 3 young people will have a connection with dementia in their family, be it grandparents or parents.

Most children have probably heard about dementia and are likely to have a family member with the disease. By educating them and spreading awareness of dementia throughout the younger generation, they will understand what their loved ones are going through and be able to maintain those important relationships and meaningful interactions.

Dementia Assemblies

Our dementia assembly will give pupils a basic understanding of dementia and how we can support people affected by the disease, including their own family members. Details of our dementia assemblies are as follows:

  • No cost to the school

  • 20-minute dementia assembly

  • Age appropriate and digestible for children and young people

Young Ambassador Programme

Pupils can choose to become a Young Ambassador for Dementia Support to help raise awareness and make a positive impact in the community.

This could include:

  • being a Year Group Champion for dementia

  • joining in activities with our customers at Sage House

  • creating posters about dementia to display in school

  • fundraising for Sage House such as a cake sale or sponsored challenge
