Thank You!

Thank you to the dedicated and generous people who have raised money for Dementia Support!

If you'd like to take on a challenge or organise an event to raise vital funds to support people affected by dementia, please contact Lisa on the fundraising team, or click here to find out more. You could walk, run, swim, cycle, bake, dance, or create your own unique challenge! No matter the size of the challenge, all of our amazing fundraisers make a huge difference to our charity. Thank you!

Gavin chose to run in aid of Dementia Support as his Mum lives with Alzheimer’s, and is a customers of ours at Sage House. Gavin was over the moon with setting a new PB 27 years after running his one only other marathon, and is delighted to have been able to raise so much money for Dementia Support in the process.  His Just Giving page raised an incredible £5150 and he very generously personally match funded £5000. ‘The crowds were amazing, although I don't think I really took it all in being in my own little bubble for much of the race’. A massive thank you Gavin!

Congratulations and Thank You to Jo Baldwin who hiked and climbed the 26-mile Ullswater Way Challenge in memory of her dad, Michael Baldwin, and raised an amazing £1,479.75 for families living with dementia.
Jo and friends, said the walk was challenging. The last mile, whilst rather painful on the feet, was a faster pace than they expected, and typically they experienced every season in one day - from hail and wind, to sunshine and blue skies – all making for a challenging but emotional and memorable occasion. They completed in an impressive 8 hours; coming in 1hr 30mins ahead of schedule.

Their grandfather has been diagnosed with Alzheimer's so they wanted to raise money for Sage House by camping and trekking in Snowdonia and reaching the summit of Snowdon via Crib Goch. George and Joe arrived in a very cold Snowdonia on Good Friday. They caught the snowdon sherpa bus to Pen y Pass and ascended on the Pyg Track and then Crib Goch, which was a real adventure (this is the hardest route up and they saw Mountain Rescue helicopter someone off the arete). There was a lot of snow on the summit. They got up and down in 5 hours. They only stayed one night as their mattress deflated and it was too cold to use camping gas! But it was a great adventure and they raised £300! Well done boys!

Emily challenged herself to run the whole half marathon for the first time ever, in memory of her late grandad who sadly passed away as a result of dementia. In Emily’s words, he was "the most loveliest of people, Roger Martin".

A half marathon is a fantastic achievement in itself, but Emily also coped with running after having undergone bilateral foot surgery in September 2022, where both metatarsal bones were broken, and now has pins and staples in both big toes. She also powered through some extremely hot and wet weather on the day.
