Local Runners Go the Distance for Sage House at London Marathon

Five dedicated individuals with close personal ties to Sage House took on the iconic London Marathon last weekend, raising vital funds and awareness for those affected by dementia.

Jim Bennett, Fiona Dunn, Martin Playford, Karen Wainwright and Jordan Bridges all completed the challenge, each driven by personal connections to our charity and the support we have provided to their loved ones throughout their dementia journeys.

Among the runners, Jim Bennett made a particularly meaningful journey, travelling from the United States to take part in the marathon. Jim ran to raise awareness of our charity that continues to support his father, also Jim, who is living with dementia. His participation highlights the far-reaching impact of our work, extending well beyond the local community.

Sage House, based in Tangmere, is a specialist dementia hub near Chichester in West Sussex. We provide comprehensive services for individuals living with dementia as well as their families and carers. This includes personalised advice, wellbeing activities,

cognitive therapies, support groups, and respite services, all designed to help people live as independently and positively as possible following a diagnosis.

We also offer guidance from experienced dementia advisors, helping families navigate what can often be a complex and emotional journey. By creating a welcoming and supportive environment, our charity plays a crucial role in reducing isolation and improving quality of life for those affected.

The efforts of Jim, Fiona, Martin, Karen and Jordan not only raised important funds but also shone a spotlight on the essential work being carried out by us. Together, the five runners have already

raised an incredible £11,715, with their fundraising pages still open. Those who wish to support their efforts can visit the charity’s website to donate.

Their commitment reflects the strength of community spirit and the importance of supporting services that make a real difference in people’s lives.
