Our second Sage House Sportive took place on Sunday 22nd September in partnership with The Rotary Club of Bognor Hotham.
The weather wasn’t as good to us this year, with 70% coverage of rain forecasted and some rain which caught the riders on route on the day, resulting in some soggy Lycra on returning to Sage House. That being said, the 45 riders who took part were in very good spirits, setting off in small groups, cycling either the 25 or 50 mile route across the South Downs.
There was a great atmosphere in Daisy’s café with lots of people talking about their experience of the cycle, how they enjoyed the scenery, tackled the weather and the challenge of some of the uphill sections of the routes.
Daisy’s Café was the perfect stop afterwards for a bite to eat to refuel, relax and have a chat with fellow cyclists and meet new people. Massive thanks to Ian Bayley from Express Foodservice in Littlehampton for donating some cakes for us to sell in the café to help with our fundraising.
The whole event raised over £6000 with a combination of donations from the Rotary Club, Just Giving pages created by 9 cyclists – (Geoff Chapman, Alex Moon, Neville Lacey, Julia Jenkins, Jennifer Harland, Hayley Warren, Alexander Sedlmayr, Tim Costello and Tomasz Czopek) donations on the day and Daisy’s Café takings.
What a great result, we are extremely grateful for Gavin and Karen from The Rotary Club of Bognor Hotham for all their hard work and support in putting this event on with us.
Next years date is set for Sunday 21st September 2025 We can't wait to see you there!
