This May, we’re celebrating a very special milestone — 8 years of Sage House — and we’d love you to be part of it.
To mark the occasion, we’re hosting a week of community events from Tuesday 5 May to Friday 8 May, bringing together our supporters, local businesses and community to celebrate everything Sage House stands for — while raising vital funds to support people living with dementia and their families across West Sussex.
For the past eight years, Sage House has been here to provide information, advice, wellbeing activities and practical support for those navigating dementia. We’ve supported thousands of individuals and families, helping them feel less alone and more confident in the journey ahead.
But none of this would be possible without the continued support of our community.
A week of celebration and fundraising
We’re kicking things off on Tuesday 5 May with our Sage House Bake Off, taking place from 10am to 3pm in Daisy’s Café.
Our team will be baking a range of homemade cakes, all available in exchange for a donation. You’ll also have the chance to vote for your favourite bake, with a winner announced at the end of the day. It’s a simple way to get involved, enjoy something sweet, and support a cause close to so many people’s hearts.
On Wednesday 6 May, we’re taking things up a gear with our Spinathon fundraising challenge, running from 8am to 4pm.
This year, we’ve set a clear goal: to raise £5,000 — enough to fund Sage House for one full day.
Every day, people come through our doors looking for support, guidance, reassurance and connection. From answering difficult questions to providing a space where people can feel understood, Sage House is here to make sure no one has to face dementia alone.
By taking part in the Spinathon — or donating to it — you’ll be helping us keep those doors open.
You can book a bike, take part as a team, or support someone you know. Every contribution brings us closer to funding a full day of support.
Bringing people together
On Thursday 7 May, we’re inviting you to join us for our Birthday Celebration Sing-Along, from 2pm to 3pm.
Led by Lisa, our Activities Coordinator, this relaxed session is all about coming together for music, laughter and connection. Whether you want to sing along or simply enjoy the atmosphere, everyone is welcome.
We’re also encouraging you to dress up for the occasion, with a prize for the best dressed, and you can make a day of it by enjoying a special birthday menu in Daisy’s Café. This is a donation-based event, with all contributions helping us continue our work in the local community.
A celebration to round it all off
We’ll be rounding off the week on Friday 8 May with a special birthday event featuring an Elvis tribute performance.
The event has already sold out, which is a wonderful reflection of the support we receive from our community — and something we’re incredibly grateful for.
Why your support matters
Dementia can be an overwhelming and isolating experience — not just for the person diagnosed, but for their loved ones too. At Sage House, we exist to change that.
Everything we do — from practical advice and emotional support to activities and social connection — is made possible through fundraising and donations.
Your support during our birthday week will help ensure we can continue to be here for the people
who need us, every single day.
Emma Radley, Chief Executive Officer of Dementia Support, said: "Reaching our eighth birthday is a wonderful milestone for Sage House, and it’s an opportunity to celebrate the community at the heart of everything we do. Each event during the week is about bringing people together while raising vital funds that allow us to continue supporting local families affected by dementia.
"Dementia can be an incredibly isolating experience, but Sage House is here to ensure no one has to face it alone. The support we provide every day is only possible thanks to the generosity of our community, and we can't wait to see what the next eight years brings for the charity."
Get involved
We’d love to see you at one (or more!) of our birthday week events.
Whether you come along, take part, donate or simply help spread the word, you’ll be making a real difference.
